Kids & Check-In: how it works

For everyoneChecked Oct 13, 20262 minutes to read

Check in at the desk, pick up with the matching code, alerts on the name tag, and parents paged on the screens.

Kids & Check-In keeps Sunday mornings safe and quick. A family checks in at the welcome desk, a name tag prints for each child and a receipt for the parent, and the code on the receipt is how the child goes home.

A Sunday morning

  1. At the welcome desk, a volunteer finds the family by last name or phone and checks the children in with one tap. Last week's rooms are already picked. See the welcome desk.
  2. Labels print on the label printer: a big name tag for each child, and small labels for the parent's receipt, a bag tag and the room's paper sheet. The tag and the receipt carry the same four-letter code and the same picture.
  3. At the room's door, an iPad shows the room's list, alerts first. Adults tap I'm here when they arrive, so the room knows when it needs one more adult. See the room's iPad.
  4. To find a parent, the room taps Page. "#23 · Toddlers" shows on the screens in the service and on any hallway screen: a page number, never a name or the code.
  5. At pickup, the parent shows the receipt. The room's iPad shows the child and the adults allowed to take them home, with photos. No code, no release: a Kids leader can okay it from their phone, and it's logged.

If the wifi drops, the stations keep checking in from their own copy, and everything catches up later. See when the wifi drops.

Who does what

  • Volunteers work on paired iPads and laptops, called stations. They don't sign in, need no account, and use no seat.
  • Kids leaders are your owners and admins, and anyone given Kids access as a manager. They set up rooms and stations, okay a pickup without the code, and watch the live view on their phone. Kids access needs two-step sign-in. See for Kids leaders.

Getting started

An owner turns Kids & Check-In on under Settings › Modules (see modules). Then a Kids leader adds your rooms, pairs the stations, sets up the label printer, and can bring families in from a spreadsheet.
