When the wifi drops (and the backup sheet)

Stations keep checking in from their own copy, pickups match tag to receipt by eye, and it all catches up later.

Kids keeps working when the wifi drops. Before each service every station keeps its own copy of what it needs and shows Ready for 9:00. If the internet goes, it carries on from that copy and says so: "No internet. Checking in from this iPad's copy, ready since 8:41. 3 check-ins waiting to send." Everything sends by itself when the wifi is back.

At the welcome desk

Check families in as usual, finding them by name: with no wifi the desk searches by name only. Each desk keeps a batch of codes for the day, so a family offline still gets a real code and page number. A label printer plugged into the desk's laptop keeps printing. If two desks happened to check in the same child while offline, both codes work for that child, and the desk is told when they sync.

Labels sent from an iPad wait until the printer laptop is back online.

At the room

The room's list shows the children it knew about. A child checked in elsewhere since the wifi dropped may be missing. For a code the iPad doesn't know, it says Match it by eye: check that the code and picture on the child's name tag match the parent's receipt, tap the child, then They match · release. It's marked "matched by eye" in the log, and it sends when the wifi is back.

The iPad can't reach a Kids leader without the internet: call one by phone or find one in person.

Pages

New pages show on the screens when the wifi is back. Until then, send someone to find the parent.

The backup sheet

For the worst case (a power cut, every device down), a Kids leader prints the backup sheet on Saturday: Kids › Backup sheet. It has a page per room with the regular children and their alerts, and blanks for codes and initials, so check-in can carry on with paper. It holds children's details: keep it with the Kids leaders and shred it after Sunday.

Keep stations ready

Open each station before the service so it can get ready, keep it on the Home Screen, and open it at least once a week: Safari may clear a site's copy after seven days without use.
