The room's iPad: pickup, paging, and the end of the service

For everyoneChecked Oct 13, 20262 minutes to read

The room's list with alerts first, adults in and out, pickup with the code, paging, closing the room, and dim mode.

Each room's door has an iPad paired as that room. It shows its own room only, as the desk checks children in: alerts and one-to-one first, then A to Z, with page numbers and pictures, never codes.

Adults in the room

The adults scheduled for this room show at the top. Tap I'm here when you arrive and Leaving when you go. The room says when it needs one more adult. Anyone under 18, or with a requirement blocking them that day, shows why and doesn't count.

Pickup

Pickup always needs the code from the parent's receipt, or a Kids leader's okay. The box under Pick up is always ready: type the code from the parent's receipt, or scan it with a scanner or the iPad's camera.

  1. The child (and any brother or sister in this room) shows with the adults allowed to take them home, with large photos. Nobody is picked for you.
  2. Look at the person at the door, tap them, and tap release. Someone with no photo says Check ID. The photos show only on the day of a check-in, and are private to your church's Kids leaders and check-in iPads.
  3. Someone not on the list? Tap Someone else: a Kids leader checks an ID on their phone and okays it. The iPad shows Waiting for a Kids leader; keep the child here.

A red screen means stop: a code already used for a child who's gone home, or a name on the child's "do not release to" list. Keep the child in the room and call a Kids leader.

Page a parent

Tap a child, then Page. Their page number goes to the screens in the service and any hallway screen, and the iPad says where it showed. After five minutes with no answer it offers to page again. When the parent comes, tap The parent's here.

The end of the service

When the service ends, the iPad lists who's still here. Mark each: Already went home (we missed it), With a parent, or Staying for the next service (same code). A Kids leader looks over every child marked this way, since no code was checked. The room can close once every child is marked. If anyone is still checked in a while after the end (15 minutes, unless your church changed it), the Kids leaders are told.

Dim mode

For a nap room, tap Dim for nap time: a near-black screen with warm text, no motion or sound. Alerts stay bright. Tap to brighten.
