Present: your phone as a remote

Your phone can press Next from anywhere in the room: Back and Next, Screen off, the logo, a Moment, and a message to the pastor's screen. The slides keep running on the booth's computer, and the remote only presses their keys, so it never takes over. Its Notes tab shows the notes for the slide that's up, so the pastor's phone can be the pastor's screen.

Open it on your phone

1. Where you run the slides, press More, then Your phone as a remote.
2. Point your phone's camera at the code, or Copy the link and open it on your phone.
3. Sign in if it asks. The remote connects by itself once the slides are open in Present.

Someone given Present access as a viewer opens Present in the menu (on a phone, under your picture at the top right) and presses Open the remote, at the top. With one service live, the remote opens on it. With two live at once, Which service? asks which one to press Next for, each with what's on its screen now. With none live, it lists today's and the coming services' slides: open one, and it connects when the booth opens them. Slides someone is rehearsing in Practice are marked there, under "No service is live yet", and a phone never lands on them by itself.

The remote

• Back and Next, big enough for a thumb. A clicker works too, even after a tap on the screen: → and Page Down are Next, ← and Page Up are Back.
• The Live card shows what's on the screens, and the Next card what Next brings, like a sermon slide's next point.
• Screen off, Logo (once Present's settings have a logo), and Moments: each Moment with a key (Shift and a number) runs from here.
• A message to the pastor's screen, up to 80 letters, with "Wrap up" and "5 minutes" offered as you type. Whatever is on the pastor's screen shows above the box, whoever sent it, with Clear to take it off.

A thin green line runs under the Live card while a press is on its way. If two seconds pass with no word from the booth, a red line says the press didn't get through, with Retry. Retry sends that same press again, so if the first one gets there late after all, the slides still move only once. When the booth turns a press down, the line says why, with no Retry. If the phone was signed out, the line says so, and Retry opens the page again for you to sign in. The buttons are grey while nobody has the slides open in Present, and the phone's screen stays on while they're open.

Notes

Notes shows the slide's notes, its cue for the pastor, and a message for the pastor's screen across the top in amber. A− and A+ change the size, and the phone remembers it. Back and Next sit under the notes, so you can read and press. The notes show while the slides are live; in Practice they wait. The presses work in Practice too, with nothing reaching the room, so try the remote before Sunday.

Who can use it

Whoever runs the slides can use the remote. So can anyone an owner or admin gives Present access as a viewer, under Settings › Access: a viewer presses Next from a phone, and running the slides stays at the booth.
