Present: Follow along on phones
The sermon's outline with its blanks filling in, the verses, your next steps and notes, on everyone's own phone.
Follow along is a page for everyone in the room, on their own phone, with no sign-in: the sermon's outline with its blanks filling in as the pastor gets there, the verses to read, the announcements, and the next steps you send, like Give or an event's sign-up. People open it from a QR code in the bulletin or on the lobby's screens.
Make the link
- While you run the service's slides, press , then under press . is greyed out in Practice, so make it on the real show before any slide goes up.
- the link, or press . makes a page with the QR for the bulletin or the welcome table, and saves the QR as a picture that stays sharp at any size.
- For the lobby's screens: in Present's , on the page, turn on and choose under .
The link belongs to these slides: next week's get their own, and the lobby's QR follows the slides it shows. ends a link: phones on it say so, and a printed QR stops working.
What people see
- Before the service, when it starts ("Starts today at 10:00 AM"); the outline appears at that time. Once that time comes, it says "Starting soon" until the booth begins.
- The outline, each point numbered. Words in [brackets] stay hidden until you reach them; the rest of a point shows, dimmed, ahead of time. A blank's word fills in when the pastor gets there, and stays even if the slides go back. The point on the screen wears your church's color.
- under each point reached, and for the rest, kept on that phone only. sends them once to the address typed, on the day of the service. PraisePad doesn't keep the notes, and keeps the address only as a scrambled code for two days, to count the emails: two a day to any address, and 200 a day from your church. Links in the notes arrive as plain words.
- Each passage as a button that opens it, with a picker: the World English Bible, the King James Version or the Reina-Valera 1909.
- The announcements' words, and the next steps you send.
- English or Spanish, in the phone's own language, with a switch at the top.
Phones are a few seconds behind the screens. Song words stay on the screens, which your church's song license covers, so the page says "Songs are on the screen." Notes for the pastor never reach it. When you press , it says the service has ended, with a link to your church site; once the sermon is published, it opens the sermon's own page.
Each service time has its own turn. The outline shows from that service's start, and only what's pressed after it began fills its blanks, so slides left on the 9:00's last point fill nothing for the 11:00. A 9:00 still preaching into the 11:00's half hour keeps its outline. The page goes by the service's times in PraisePad (service times): with a wrong time there, it waits for that time.
Next steps on phones
, at the top while you run the slides, sends a next step to every phone following along: , (your church site's Pray for me card, or your connect link), (your site's form for new families) or for one of your public events published on your church site. Only what your church has on is offered, and a card that's up already isn't sent twice. A card stays until you press , which is final: sending it again makes a new one. Before the Follow along link is made, a card you send waits for it, and you're told so as you send it. In Practice, nothing goes to phones. A Moment can send one too: in Present's , add a step from .
Blanks in the outline
The outline is the sermon's slides with ticked, and a word in [brackets] is a blank: see points one at a time. Slides built from the pastor's notes come this way already. Without such slides, phones get the sermon's title, the verses, the announcements and your cards.
