Switch from Planning Center

Connect the church's Planning Center once; people, songs with charts and files, and plans as services come across.

Import › Switch from Planning Center. Owners only. PraisePad reads from Planning Center; it never writes to it, and nobody is emailed.

1. Connect

Connect opens Planning Center's own sign-in page, which asks whether PraisePad may read People and Services. Say yes and you are back on this page, which shows the account's name, who connected it and when. The sign-in tokens are kept encrypted on the server. Disconnect at any time deletes them; what came across stays.

Until PraisePad is registered with Planning Center, the page says so, and Planning Center's own CSV export works as a spreadsheet import.

2. Choose what comes

Each part shows its count before you run anything.

  • People and households. Everyone in People, with households, emails, phones, addresses and custom fields (a field on a tab, such as "Baptized", becomes a church field with the same name). These go through the same review as a spreadsheet: who is new, who is already here and gets what was missing, which rows need a look. Nobody is invited and no seat is used by the import itself.
  • Songs, arrangements and files. Every song with its author, copyright and CCLI number; each arrangement with its key, tempo and chord chart (words only when Planning Center has no chords). PDFs, images and audio up to 25 MB are kept on the arrangement; other files are listed and left out. A song already in your library by its CCLI number or title gets the chart as another arrangement rather than a second song.
  • Plans, as services. Plans since a day you choose (two years back by default) become services on the same dates with their songs, in the plan's key, so song usage and "who led it before" start with history. A plan's team becomes assignments for people who are on your team in a position with the same name; anyone else, and anyone who declined, is noted on the service instead.
  • The Services team as your team. The people in Services join the team as musicians, not invited. Invite the team on the Team page sends the invitations when you are ready.

3. Run

The people come first and open in the import's review, where you check the counts and write them. Continue: songs and plans brings you back here for the rest, each part with its own counter and a tick when it is done. A closed tab picks up where it stopped.

Running again is safe: a person, song or plan that came before is updated or skipped, never made twice.

What stays behind

Notes on people, giving, check-ins, forms and workflows. Planning Center's generated lyric and chord PDFs are not copied, since PraisePad makes its own from the chart.

One activity line records the people, and one the songs and plans.
