Write and edit a chart

To edit a chart, open the song and press Edit chart. Type on the left and the preview on the right updates as you go. Press Save (or Ctrl+S) when you're done. On a phone, switch between Edit and Preview at the top.

Chords and words

Put each chord in square brackets right before the syllable it lands on:

• [G]Amazing [C]grace, how [G]sweet the sound

The preview shows the chord above that syllable. A line of chords on its own, like an intro written as | G | C | G |, reads as chords too.

Sections

Start each section with a line that is just its name, like Verse 1, Chorus, Pre-Chorus, Bridge, Tag, or Ending. The hint under the editor shows the ChordPro way to mark a section, which works as well.

The sequence

Sequence is the order the band plays the sections in, like V1 C V2 C B C. With no sequence, the chart plays in the order it's written.

1. Press + at the end of Sequence.
2. Choose sections from In this chart, or type one in Another label and press Add.
3. To start from the chart's own order, press Use chart order. Clear sequence empties it.

Tap a step to move it earlier, later, or remove it. You can also drag steps. A step that matches no section is marked, and sections the sequence leaves out are listed: they won't show or print.

Key, tempo, and notes

The boxes above the editor hold the Key, Tempo, Time, and Length. Notes opens the arrangement notes for the band, like feel or who starts. Changing the key asks whether to move the chords too; see key and capo.

Before Sunday

Check the chart lists chords it can't read, a sequence that doesn't match the sections, and a key that doesn't agree with the chords. It only warns, and never changes anything. Every save is kept as a version, so you can go back; see chart history.
