Fix a chord or a word from the stage

For leadersChecked Oct 5, 20263 minutes to read

Leaders press Fix on the stage, tap a line, and change a chord or a word; everyone following sees it at once.

A wrong chord in the second verse used to mean leaving the stage, opening the song's editor, and coming back. Now a leader fixes it where it shows.

Fix a line

  1. On the stage, press Fix (leaders, admins, and owners see it; on a hardware keyboard, press E). On a phone, where the top row is full, it's Fix a chord or a word in the display menu, under the T button. Every line of the chart becomes tappable, and a strip at the bottom says so, with Done to leave.
  2. Tap the line. A small editor opens beside the chart on an iPad, or up from the bottom on a phone, with just that line: the chords as chips above the words, exactly as the stage shows them.
  3. Tap a chip. The key's chords come first, the ones this chart uses most at the front, then that chord's own variants, then half steps and Remove chord. Tap the dashed + to put a chord on words that have none. Change the words in the field below.
  4. Press Save. The fix is on your stage at once, and on every screen following you.

The stage shows what you tap: if the chart is in the service's key, showing capo shapes, or in Nashville numbers, the chips are those, and the save goes back into the chart's written key by itself.

Everywhere at once

Two boxes under the line say what else they'd change:

  • Everywhere this line repeats (ticked when the same line is written again, with the count): a chorus written out three times is fixed once.
  • Every F2 in this song → F (when only a chord changed, with the count): a chord spelled wrong throughout is fixed throughout.

Add a line below and Remove this line are there too, for a missing or a doubled line.

Undo, and versions

After a save, "Fixed line 5 · Undo" stays for ten seconds. Every save is a version of the chart, so a wrong fix in the middle of a service is one tap back, now with Undo or later from the song's Chart history.

If someone saved the chart since your stage loaded it (from the editor, say), your save is refused with their name, the chart refreshes, and you tap the line again. Nobody's work is lost.

Bigger changes

Edit the whole chart… shows the chart's text in the same panel, with the stage as its live preview, for a verse in the wrong place. Open the full editor → goes to the song's editor for sequences, sections, tab blocks, and the chart check.

Musicians: flag a line

If you play rather than lead, press and hold a line. A small sheet asks for a note, if you like (what is wrong, or what it should be); press Send. The leader's stage shows a small flag on that line with your name, their Fix button counts it, and the service's Updates get a line. When the leader saves that line, the flag clears.

Good to know

  • A fix needs a connection. Without one, Fix says so; notes and drawings still work offline.
  • A fix changes the song's chart for every service, not a copy for this one. Chart history keeps every version.
  • Fix works on typed charts. A song shown from a PDF has nothing to fix on the stage.
