Find a recording without leaving PraisePad
Press Find a recording and PraisePad lines up the closest matches from YouTube and Apple to hear and pick.
Searching YouTube yourself, copying the link, and pasting it into PraisePad is three apps for one song. does it in one place: it searches from the song's own title and authors, lines up the closest matches in a strip you can play right there, and the one you pick becomes the song's recording.
On a song's page
- Open the song from , and pick the arrangement if it has more than one.
- Under , press .
- The strip shows what YouTube found, the closest match first with the reason it won. Tap a card to hear it. Switch to for Apple's answers, each with a 30-second preview.
- Change the words in the search box ("acoustic", "live", another artist) and press when the first search isn't the version you want.
- Press . It becomes the main version when the song has none, and the same recording's Apple Music and Spotify links are added with it when they exist.
opens the usual box for a link you already have.
During an import
Every song on the review has a row with : the same strip, inside the card, and the pick is saved with the song. At the top of the review, does every song in turn, with its progress and a : each card gets its closest match when the match is clear, and "nothing close" when it isn't. Change any card's pick on the card.
On the Playlist
A service's lists the songs with no YouTube version yet. beside each one opens the picker, and the pick goes to that song's arrangement in the set.
How the closest match is chosen
No AI is involved. A few rules any musician would use decide the order: the artist's own channel or official audio comes first; "official", a lyric video, and a length between two and nine minutes count for a video; "cover", "karaoke", "tutorial", "backing track", and the like count against it, and those go to the end, dimmed. Live versions and other artists' versions stay in the strip with their badge, because sometimes that's the one you want. The first card says in a line why it won.
Start here
Most official videos open with a few seconds of logo. While a YouTube candidate plays, press and the moment that's playing is saved on the link, so and the Playlist start at the song. You can type a time too, like 0:14.
The day's allowance
PraisePad gets a fixed number of YouTube searches a day for all churches together (100 until Google raises it), so searches are remembered for everyone for 30 days: a song found once by any church costs nothing the next time. When the day's searches are used up, the picker says so; Apple Music still works, and you can paste a link. If the tab is missing, YouTube search isn't set up on this site yet; Apple's works without it.
