Sign in with Face ID (passkeys)
Add a passkey once, then sign in with Face ID, Touch ID or your screen lock. No code, no password.
A passkey lets you sign in with a glance: Face ID or Touch ID on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, your fingerprint or screen lock on Android, Windows Hello on a PC. No code to wait for, no password to type. It lives in your device's password manager (iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, 1Password), so the same passkey works on your other devices too, and in PraisePad on your Home Screen as well as in Safari.
Add a passkey
- Open your account menu, then , then the tab.
- Under Passkeys, press , then confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your screen lock.
- Your password manager names it (iCloud Keychain, for example). Press to call it something else.
After you sign in with your password or an emailed code, PraisePad also offers it once on each device: Next time, just use Face ID. Choose , or to be asked again in a month.
Open in PraisePad to try itSign in with it
On the sign-in page, press and pick yours. On a phone, you can also tap the email box: your passkey appears above the keyboard. On a computer that doesn't have your passkey, the browser offers to use your phone instead: scan the code it shows, then Face ID on the phone.
Owners and admins: your second step
If two-step sign-in is needed for your role, a passkey is both steps in one. Signing in with it asks for nothing more, and when you sign in with your password or a code instead, the two-step page offers Use Face ID as the main button. Setting two-step up offers Face ID first, with as the other way, and you get ten recovery codes either way. Keep them: if the account holding your passkey is lost, a recovery code gets you back in.
For everyone else, a passkey is simply a quicker way in. It doesn't turn two-step sign-in on.
Remove one
On the tab, press beside the passkey. You're signed out everywhere else, and you get an email. Your phone may still list the passkey in its passwords; delete it there too. While two-step is needed for your role, your last passkey can't go unless you have an authenticator app; add one first.
It didn't work
- No on your Security tab yet: passkeys are arriving in stages; your account gets them soon.
- No button on this computer: it only shows where the browser can use passkeys. Chrome, Edge and Safari can; an older browser may not.
- "This passkey didn't ask for Face ID": PraisePad only takes a passkey that checked it was you. Use the one on your phone or computer, or sign in with an emailed code.
- "This passkey was removed from your account": it was removed on the Security tab. Delete it from your device's passwords and sign in with a code.
